KLM SHIP SIDE BOTTLE
Made between 1959 and 1963(see logo) by Schoonhoven, NV, Plateelfabriek.
KLM has been one of the co-founders of Shipside, then named Shipside Tax Free World On Wheels and now Shipside Tax Free Cars.KLM was looking into the US market and looking for ways to make a European trip more attractive via Amsterdam.
This resulted in 1956 in offering cars to Americans in order to make a self driving European tour after the flight. The bottle has probably been a Shipside gift in those times.
Shipside then shipped the car to the USA and the client took a nice seat in a KLM flight back home.
The cars were mainly VW Beetle, which the clients picked up at Shipside location in Schiphol ( now Schiphol East)
After modernization of the Airport, Shipside also moved to its new location, with a big showroom next to the arrival hall.
Now Shipside is located right next to the Airport. This lacation is also known as Schiphol Zuid II.
